Frank Espinal, BA, MBA, President and CEO

As President and Chief Executive Officer of ShipOnSite, Frank is responsible for guiding the company’s strategic direction, developing external partnerships, and shaping its overall vision. He oversees day-to-day operations, internal management, and the performance of the organization. Frank consults with each new store owner during the 8-12 week store opening period, provides ongoing telephone support to existing owners, and approves as well as maintains all training and reference materials for ShipOnSite locations.
Frank brings over 25 years of experience in the clinical diagnostics industry. His career began in sales, where he consulted on and sold genetic and esoteric testing services to hospitals, medical centers, and government health departments across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 2006, he retired from Quest Diagnostics, Inc. as Corporate Director of Revenue, a role in which he oversaw revenue operations, national projects and financial sourcing at the corporate level. With extensive expertise in revenue management, sales and marketing, operations, project management and logistics, Frank has positioned ShipOnSite as the go-to solution for entrepreneurs interested in entering the world of retail operations and services covering important aspects of everyday life with consumers and businesses alike.
Before establishing his own ShipOnSite and training store, Frank provided consulting services to small businesses and managed a diverse portfolio of enterprises, including:
- Floral Importer – Miami, Florida
- Sign Company (Billboards) – McAllen, Texas
- Marine Fiberglass Manufacturer – Glen Burnie, MD
- HVAC Company – Trenton, NJ
- Grocer Country Store – Bar Harbor, ME
Frank served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserves, and the Pennsylvania National Guard, and has since retired. He holds an MBA in Business Administration and a BA in Organizational Development from Eastern University at St. David’s, Pennsylvania. Frank served as a member of the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations and currently serves on the South Carolina Waccamaw Workforce Development Board.
Kathryn Brewer, Founder & Master Developer
Kathy Brewer, Founder and Master Developer of ShipOnSite, brings 40 years of small business experience. She has guided ShipOnSite through major changes, including launching AuctionOnSite (eBay consignment) in 2003 and adding GiftsOnSite (gift store) to distinguish ShipOnSite stores in the marketplace. In her corporate role, Kathy designs stores, manages set-ups, and supports new owners throughout the store ownership process. With a background in family and small businesses, she is well-versed in retail, customer service, marketing, and accounting.
Melissa Hlavenka, Director of Store Openings
With over a decade at ShipOnSite Inc., Melissa Hlavenka plays a pivotal role in the company’s continued growth and expansion. As Director of Store Openings, she leads the setup and launch of new store locations nationwide, ensuring each one is primed for success from day one. From strategic planning and logistics to supply coordination and scheduling, Melissa keeps every opening aligned with ShipOnSite’s high standards of excellence.
In addition to her corporate responsibilities, Melissa manages daily operations and purchasing at the ShipOnSite Wake Forest gift store. Her hands-on approach and commitment to personalized customer service reflects her deep connection to the local community and the values at the heart of ShipOnSite. Whether she’s guiding a new store opening or helping a customer ship a package, Melissa brings the same level of care and excellence.
Melissa’s unique blend of strategic insight and frontline experience makes her a trusted leader and an indispensable part of the ShipOnSite team.
Kaitlin Spencer, Designer
Kaitlin Spencer has been part of the ShipOnSite team for over three years, bringing 8 years of design experience to her role. She earned her degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she developed a strong background in the principles and elements of design in multiple facets – from digital and fine art to set design and construction.
At the corporate level, Kaitlin works to bridge the gap between concept and reality – helping new store owners see their vision come to life, ensuring each space is both functional and visually engaging. In the storefront, she operates as a graphic designer and printer, creating tailored design solutions and building long-standing relationships with customers and fellow business owners within the community.
David Gray, Training Coordinator
David Gray has been a valued member of the ShipOnSite team since 2021, contributing extensive expertise in logistics, operations, customer service, and training. In his role as Training Coordinator, David is responsible for onboarding new store owners with best practices and guides them through all aspects of store operations, including multi-carrier shipping solutions, point-of-sale procedures, mailbox management systems and the proper packaging of items big or small.
Prior to joining ShipOnSite, David was employed by Caterpillar Inc., where he developed strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to complex challenges. His background in service, combined with a commitment to excellence, and dedication to high
standards contribute to his reputation as a reliable and respected member of the ShipOnSite team.
David is a retired U.S. Marine Corps infantry veteran and former School of Infantry Instructor who consistently applies the discipline and commitment acquired during his military service to all areas of his professional life. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the American Military University.
